A 5.3 magnitude earthquake struck near the city of Bakersfield in Southern California on Monday shortly after 3:30 a.m. PST. According to the United States Geological Survey, the epicenter of the quake was located about 11 miles northeast of Bakersfield, and it was felt across the region.
There have been no reports of major damage or injuries following the earthquake. However, some aftershocks have been reported, including a magnitude 4.1 earthquake that occurred about 30 minutes after the main shock. Residents are advised to be prepared for additional aftershocks in the coming days.
