Sarah Huckabee Sanders Sworn In As Arkansas Governor

16 Years After Her Father Left Office, Sanders Makes History

Former White House Press Secretary Begins Gubernatorial Term

Sarah Huckabee Sanders was sworn in as the 47th governor of Arkansas on Tuesday, January 10th, 2023. Sanders is the first woman to hold the office in the state's history. She is also the daughter of former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, who served from 1996 to 2007.

Sanders' inauguration comes 16 years after her father left office. She has since served as the White House press secretary under President Donald Trump from 2017 to 2019. In 2021, she announced her candidacy for governor of Arkansas.

In her inaugural address, Sanders pledged to "fight for the people of Arkansas" and to "make our state the best place to live, work, and raise a family." She also outlined her priorities for her term, including education, healthcare, and economic development.
